At St George’s Academy, we offer The Edexcel GCSE (9-1) Maths course at both foundation and higher to key stage 4 students. The examinations take place at the end of year 11 and consist of 3 papers. Paper 1 is non-calculator and papers 2 and 3 calculators are allowed. Students who find the GCSE Maths very difficult will also sit an additional exam, which will allow them to try and achieve a certificate in Maths. The course is the Edexcel Award Level 1 in Number and measure.
Key stage 3 students all work towards the Edexcel Award Level 1 and Level 2 in Number and Measure. Level 2 will be aimed to challenge the more able students. The Award is assessed through a summer examination at the end of year 9. The exam consists of one paper broken in to two parts. One part is non-calculator and the other part, calculators are allowed.
