Teacher of Food Technology – Mrs R Baker
Food technology at St Georges Academy is taught in our purpose built specialist room. At Key stage 3, students are introduced to food technology, developing basic skills and encouraging students to explore different foods and experience handling raw ingredients. Catering is taught as a vocational qualification at key stage 4, with students working towards the Edexcel Jamie Oliver Home Cooking Skills BTEC level 2, which is equivalent to half a GCSE. This course is highly practical and “hands-on” and provides an excellent springboard into further education technology, and a possible career in the food or hospitality industries.
