St. George’s Academy is a thriving Alternative Provision Academy, rated Good by Ofsted (May 2015).
We are seeking to appoint a passionate teacher of PE, to inspire the next generation of our students and join a highly committed team of professionals determined to re-engage demotivated students back into education, so that students of all abilities enjoy their learning and are motivated to succeed.
In this role you will be working in a small, well established department with a supportive SLT. Our aim is for every student to make outstanding progress in PE. This is through receiving engaging teaching that focuses on concrete understanding and engendering a love of learning. If you are looking to progress your career in an Academy which places a high value on the professional development of its staff, and feel you have the qualities to meet the demands of this rewarding position, then we wish to hear from you. BTEC and DofE experience would be desirable.
The person appointed will have a timetable which will include teaching physical education lessons from year 9-11. There will also be a limited amount of classroom teaching to suit the needs of the school timetable. This will be discussed with candidates at interview.
The Academy is a particularly supportive, friendly and vibrant place in which to work. Our children have had issues within a mainstream education environment and have come to St. George’s Academy for a fresh start and new direction. Successful outcomes for our young people are borne out of the partnership between school, young person and home. It is this partnership which provides the cornerstone for them to succeed. Together we will ensure that each young person will have the individualised support needed to help them overcome their barriers to learning; which could include behavioural, emotional or learning difficulties.
We pride ourselves on offering young people an exciting, engaging curriculum. This gives every young person the opportunity to gain a GCSE in English, Maths, Science plus additional optional subjects.
We are looking for a teacher who:
- has a passion for physical education and a special gift of communicating that passion
- is dynamic, innovative, self-motivating and able to inspire others
- has strong classroom management
- has the ability to teach outstanding lessons across the age and ability range
- has the highest expectations for the attainment of all young people
- enjoys working as part of a team to ensure the success of the department and the Academy is driven to relentlessly remove barriers to students’ success
- has a sense of humour
In return St. George’s Academy will offer you:
- a thriving, innovative learning community, committed to excellence
- a supportive, welcoming community of professionals
- extensive support and development opportunities
Applications are invited from either newly qualified or experienced professionals.
This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the lives of young people in Birmingham. If you are interested in being at the leading edge of education, believe that all young people can achieve high standards and are prepared to work tirelessly to ensure their success, we want to hear from you.
